If you’re a smoker, and lighting up is part of “fun at the ole ball park”, Busch stadium is not much fun for you, whether or not the Cardinals win. But it will be a lot tougher to sneak outside the stadium for a cigarette or cigar during the All-star game on July 14th.
On this and most other game nights at Busch, the swarm into the stadium is usually pretty swift, according to stadium operations manager Joe Abernathy.
But with President Obama expected to throw the first pitch, security will reign supreme. "The secret service told us if you can't get it on an airplane, you won't be able to get it into the building that night."
There is plenty of debate with fans who light up outside the stadium. Once you are in there is no going out and back in. While regularly hopping out for a smoke and back in is allowed at Busch it won't be on July 14th.
Abernathy says "if they let people out and back in it sort of violates that level of security its something that MLB won't tolerate and with the President coming in on Tuesday it's not even up for debate." Not that this will be an issue for the new President, a smoker who, as of June,
admitted he is only "95% cured"
It’s a sure bet that someone on the Secret Service detail will be packing some smokes and a lighter. Grabbing a smoke will be nothing compared to worrying about is throwing like a girl with the eyes of the world on him.
