YouTube and CNN Team Up To Put On Presidential Debates.

It is 21st century stuff when YouTube gets together with CNN to put on an ‘online’ debate for political candidates.   Democratic presidential candidates are planned for the month of July.   Come September it will be the Republicans turn on-line.

The way I understand how it works is……people will submit video questions to the candidates.   The videos must be less than 30 seconds and be concise, clear and creative….whatever that means.   CNN will screen the videos and the best will be reserved for the debate.   I learned that the candidates won’t know what the questions are going to be asked.   That seems fairly 20th century.

They say that video submission will give the public an opportunity to ask questions in a more compelling way. I am not sure what that means.

All I have to say is….it will be a different kind of debate.    Somehow I am not sold on this whole idea. I love technology but this looks more like a stretch or an excuse to use 21st century YouTube technology with an appeal to the younger crowd…..getting them involved in politics.

I could be wrong.   Time will tell.
