Technology is advancing like crazy.
Here comes personalize Internet web searches.
Like it or not personalized web searches are an inevitable part of our future!
As we ask for more and more pointed and targeted results from our Goggle searches and…as more and more data becomes available….everything, including our very lives, becomes available to everyone in the world through the Internet.
Privacy concerns are valid but in an Internet world is there any privacy?
My first numbing shock of this came one day a few years ago when I had an occasion to enter my identity into Google.
I expected and was ready for a few things…..but to my surprise it was recorded for the world that ‘I was a Russian Speaker’
I would plead guilty to that in one form or another…but I did not realize that this information now was available to billions of people on planet earth.
This was the very last thing I expected to be said of me..but there it was for the world to see! My mind raced and immediately I wondered…..what else do they, who ever they are, know about me.
I guess I am old fashion thinking there are some lines that are not to be crossed….but now I find that in this 21st century there may be no lines at all.
Is the Genie now out of the bottle and there is no going back?
Is that a good thing or is that a bad thing?
If full discloser of the details of our lives causes us to perhaps be more discipline and careful in the conduct of our lives….then perhaps one could reason it could be considered a good thing.
But, I am not holding my breath on that one.
Whatever happened to the simple life?
Whatever happened to privacy?
