Kyle McLellan hurled three strong innings and Joe Mather went 2-for-3 with four RBI as the Cardinals claimed their first Grapefruit League win 7-4 over the Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium.  McLellan fanned four without a walk while allowing just one hit over the first three frames for the win.  Mather's three-run double in the fourth staked St. Louis to a 4-0 lead.  He added an RBI single in the sixth to make it 5-1.  Blake Hawksworth surrendered three runs in the eighth as Florida got to within 5-4, but the Redbirds put up two more in the bottom half and held on from there.  Pete Parise got the final two outs in the ninth for his first save.  Yadier Molina went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the win.  The Cardinals are now 1-and-3 on the spring.  They'll take on the Red Sox this afternoon in Ft. Myers.

Utilityman Allen Craig won't be playing for at least two more days, but top pitching prospect Shelby Miller could be in line for some game action.  Craig is recovering from soreness in his left quadriceps and will not travel with the team for its two-game road trip to Ft. Myers.  The Cardinals play the Red Sox this afternoon and then the Twins on Tuesday before returning home to host the Nationals Wednesday in Jupiter.  Craig will stay back and work out instead, with his spring debut possibly against the Nats.  Miller, the team's first-round draft pick last year, has been restricted to live batting practice and bullpen sessions, but manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Miller could find himself in the mix to pitch an inning in an upcoming Grapefruit League game if the situation arises.  The Cards have been impressed with his stuff and maturity level despite being just 19 years old.

The Missouri men's basketball team lost 77-56 to second-ranked Kansas Saturday at Mizzou Arena.  Tyshawn Taylor had 13 points as the Jayhawks finished the regular season 29-and-2 overall and 15-and-1 in the Big 12.  Kim English had a game-high 16 points for the Tigers, who fell to 22-and-9 and 10-and-6.  KU has a first-round bye in this week's Big 12 Tournament and will face either Colorado or Texas Tech in round two.  Mizzou plays Nebraska in the first round on Wednesday.   That game will be broadcast on 99.9FM KFAV. Pre-game will begin at 1:30 Wednesday.   If the Tigers win they will likely face Texas A&M next.

The Illinois men's basketball team closed out the regular season Sunday with a 72-57 loss to 17th-ranked Wisconsin at Assembly Hall.  Jon Leuer and Jordan Taylor scored 20 points apiece for the Badgers.  Mike Tisdale tallied 16 points to lead the Fighting Illini, who lost five of their final six regular-season games to fall to 18-and-13 overall and 10-and-8 in the Big Ten.  The Illini now move on to the Big Ten Tournament, where they will rematch with Wisconsin Friday in Indianapolis.

The Saint Louis men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 71-66 victory Saturday night at Dayton.  The Billikens built a 34-19 lead at the half and held on from there.  Kwamain Mitchell scored 20 points for SLU, which closed out the regular season 20-and-10 overall and 11-and-5 in the Atlantic 10.  The Billikens finished fourth in the conference and get a first-round bye in the A-10 Tournament, which begins tomorrow at campus sites.  SLU will play either fifth-seeded Rhode Island or 12th-seeded St. Joseph's Friday at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Chris Stewart notched his first career hat trick as the Avalanche blew out the Blues 7-3 Saturday night in Denver.  Stewart scored once in the first period and twice more in the second, including a penalty shot, as Colorado snapped the Blues' five-game winning streak.  Alex Steen tallied twice for St. Louis and David Perron also scored in the setback.  The Blues are now five points out of the final playoff spot in the West after Detroit won Sunday.  St. Louis skates at the Islanders Thursday.

One never thinks of overtime in a NASCAR race, but Kurt Busch survived two green-white checkered finishes, a seven-car wreck and some payback to win his second straight spring race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Busch battled Kasey Kahne for the lead for most of the race, but it was Matt Kenseth and Juan Pablo Montoya that he drove away from to notch his first win of the season.  Kahne finished fourth and Paul Menard fifth.
