Kyle McLellan hurled three strong innings and Joe Mather went 2-for-3 with four RBI as the Cardinals claimed their first Grapefruit League win 7-4 over the Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium. McLellan fanned four without a walk while allowing just one hit over the first three frames for the win. Mather's three-run double in the fourth staked
St. Louis to a 4-0 lead. He added an RBI single in the sixth to make it 5-1. Blake Hawksworth surrendered three runs in the eighth as
Florida got to within 5-4, but the Redbirds put up two more in the bottom half and held on from there. Pete Parise got the final two outs in the ninth for his first save. Yadier Molina went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the win. The Cardinals are now 1-and-3 on the spring. They'll take on the Red Sox this afternoon in
Ft.
Myers.
Utilityman Allen Craig won't be playing for at least two more days, but top pitching prospect Shelby Miller could be in line for some game action. Craig is recovering from soreness in his left quadriceps and will not travel with the team for its two-game road trip to
Ft.
Myers. The Cardinals play the Red Sox this afternoon and then the Twins on Tuesday before returning home to host the Nationals Wednesday in Jupiter. Craig will stay back and work out instead, with his spring debut possibly against the Nats. Miller, the team's first-round draft pick last year, has been restricted to live batting practice and bullpen sessions, but manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Miller could find himself in the mix to pitch an inning in an upcoming Grapefruit League game if the situation arises. The Cards have been impressed with his stuff and maturity level despite being just 19 years old.

One never thinks of overtime in a NASCAR race, but Kurt Busch survived two green-white checkered finishes, a seven-car wreck and some payback to win his second straight spring race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Busch battled Kasey Kahne for the lead for most of the race, but it was Matt Kenseth and Juan Pablo Montoya that he drove away from to notch his first win of the season. Kahne finished fourth and Paul Menard fifth.
