The Missouri Tigers are in action tonight with a road game at
Iowa
State. The Tigers suffered a 63-53 loss at
Kansas
State on Saturday and now stand at 21-and-8 overall and 9-and-5 in the Big 12. The Cyclones are 14-and-15 on the season, including a 3-and-11 mark in the conference. Hear the pre-game tonight at 6:30 on 99.9FM KFAV.
The Cardinals are gearing up for the start of Grapefruit League play Thursday against the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie. Yesterday in camp, shortstop Brendan Ryan tested his surgically repaired right wrist, making his first throws of the spring and taking light swings at an empty hitting tee after being medically cleared. Team officials remain hopeful he'll be able to play in Grapefruit League games at some point this month and be on the active roster for Opening Day. Meanwhile, Adam Wainwright and Kyle Lohse threw batting practice sessions yesterday.
The Blues get back to work tonight as they embark on a six-game road trip against the Coyotes in suburban
Phoenix. The Blues, along with the rest of the NHL, have been on hiatus the last two weeks while the Winter Olympics were going on in
Vancouver. After winning a silver medal with Team
USA, forward David Backes and defenseman Erik Johnson will now try and help the Blues make a playoff push. Defenseman Roman Polak is also back after skating with the
Czech
Republic during the Winter Games.
St. Louis won its final three games before the Olympics, but will play eight of its next nine away from home. The Blues are in 12th place in the Western Conference with 65 points, five back of the Red Wings, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot.
Nebraska
star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh didn't hurt his chances any to be the top pick in the NFL Draft with his work Monday at the Scouting Combine in
Indianapolis. Pundits have been weighing in on whether he or
Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy should be the first-overall pick, but Suh outdid him during physical drills at Lucas Oil Stadium. Most notably, Suh turned in an impressive 35-and-a-half inch vertical leap from a standing position, the best of any defensive tackle there. McCoy's vertical leap was 30-and-a-half inches. Suh also dominated in the 225-pound bench press with 32 reps to just 23 for McCoy. Their two 40-yard-dash times were comparable. One of them or Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford is likely to go first overall to the Rams on day one of the draft April 22nd.
