Jeremy Shockey caught the go-ahead two-yard touchdown pass with 5:42 to play as the Saints overcame an early 10-0 deficit to beat the Cotls 31-17 in Super Bowl 44.  Tracy Porter ran back an interception 74 yards for a TD with 3:12 left to seal the first Super Bowl win for New Orleans. Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 32-of-39 passes for 288 yards and a pair of scores to earn Super Bowl 44 Most Valuable Player honors.  Brees' 32 completions tied a Super Bowl record set by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in New England's Super Bowl 38 victory over Carolina.

 

Pitchers and catchers aren't due to report until February 17th, but there are already signs of life at Cardinals spring training camp in Jupiter, Florida.  Several players were already at Roger Dean Stadium before the weekend even began to begin working out and do some light tossing.  The "Post-Dispatch" reports pitchers Kyle McClellan, Jason Motte and Adam Ottavino were all on hand Friday.  Meanwhile, pitching coach Dave Duncan is expected to arrive this coming weekend.

 

 

Marcus Denmon poured in 22 points off the bench as Missouri crushed Colorado 84-66 Saturday in Boulder.  Kim English netted 21 points for the Tigers, who have won three of their last five games to up their record to 17-and-6 overall and 5-and-3 in the Big 12.  Keith Ramsey and Justin Safford both added 10 points in the victory.  The Tigers host Iowa State on Wednesday.

 


The Blues make a brief road stop in the Mile High City tonight to take on the Colorado Avlanche in Denver St. Louis is coming off a 2-1 home loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday and has lost two straight overall, both on home ice.  After tonight, the Blues will head right back to St. Louis to open a three-game homestand Tuesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.  At 25-24-and-9, the Blues are currently seven points out of the final Western Conference playoff spot with 59. 

 

 

Demetri McCamey tallied 22 points and 11 assists as Illinois knocked off fifth-ranked Michigan State 78-73 Saturday at Assembly Hall.  Mike Davis added 16 points off the bench for the Fighting Illini, who handed the Spartans their second straight loss.  Illinois improved to 16-and-8 overall and 8-and-3 in the Big Ten.  The Illini hit the road tomorrow to play at Wisconsin.  Meanwhile, SIU-Edwardsville fell to 3-and-21 on the season with a 57-50 home loss to North Dakota on Sunday.

 

 

 

The countdown to the 2010 Winter Olympics is on.  There are just four more days until Opening Ceremonies for the Vancouver Games.  Friday's Opening Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony on February 28th will take place at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver proper. While Vancouver is the primary host city for the 2010 Winter Games, nearby Whistler and Richmond will be home to some events too.  The famed Whistler ski resort will be the site of numerous skiing events, while the Richmond Olympic Oval will be used for speed skating.
