The International League nipped the Pacific Coast League 2-1 in the Triple-A All-Star Game last night in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  Memphis' Brandon Dickson gave up a hit and also fanned one through an inning of relief, while Fernando Salas struck out a pair, giving up one hit through two-thirds of an inning. Memphis, which snapped a three-game slide with a 5-1 win over the Nashville Sounds to cap off the first half of the season, hits the road to take on the New Orleans Zephyrs in the opener of a four-game set starting tonight.

The Chicago Cubs kick off the second half of their season tonight as they host the Philadelphia Phillies in the opener of a four-game set at Wrigley Field.  The Cubs ended the first half of the season at 39-and-50 overall, nine-and-a-half games back of Cincinnati atop the NL Central standings.  Ryan Dempster will toe the rubber opposite Jamie Moyer in tonight's opener.

A fight has been added to the undercard of the August 7th boxing event at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Cory Spinks will look to defend his IBF junior middleweight belt against Cornelius Bundrage. The Spinks bout was originally set for Chaifetz Arena in mid-June. Devon Alexander verses Andreas Kotelnik is the main event.  IBF light heavyweight champ Tavoris Cloud will also face former titleholder Glen Johnson on the card.

The St. Louis Cardinals kick off the second half of their season tonight in the opener of a four-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at Busch Stadium.  The Cards took two-of-three against the Houston Astros, capped off with a 4-2 victory on Sunday, to wrap up the first half at 47-and-41. They sit one-game back of Cincinnati atop the NL Central division standings.  Chris Carpenter will toe the rubber opposite Clayton Kershaw in the opener.
