Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols will make an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman."  The Cardinals will be in town for a three-game series against the Mets that begins on Tuesday.  Pujols is slated to do the usual sit-down interview as well as give a batting demonstration outside the show's studio in Manhattan.

The Rams could still have their eye on Missouri wide receiver Danario Alexander the "Post Dispatch" reports the Rams will likely bring Alexander in for a visit and physical after his agent said Alexander was cleared medically this week to work out for NFL teams.  He had surgery on his left knee in February.  Alexander had 113 receptions for 1,781 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Tigers last season.  It was a breakout year after three left-knee surgeries, but he re-injured the knee during a Senior Bowl practice in late January.  The Rams are still waiting to see his medical reports.

Missouri center Tim Barnes and defensive end Aldon Smith were both named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.  Barnes, a senior, has started the last 27 games for the Tigers and they allowed just 20 sacks over 13 games last season. Smith is a sophomore who was named the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year after last season.  The All Big-12 team was voted on by media people that cover the conference.

 

A limited amount of tickets for the Arch Rivalry Game between Missouri and Illinois go on sale tonight at 6 p.m. The season opener will be September 4th at the Edward Jones Dome.  Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. Tickets will be available this evening only at mutigers.com, but will not be allocated until later. Prices are 70-dollars for lower-level seats and 35 bucks for terrace-level tickets. 

And former Cards manager Whitey Herzog will reach the pinnacle of baseball Sunday when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Herzog will join one-time Cubs outfielder Andre Dawson and umpire Doug Harvey in the Class of 2010.  Herzog and Harvey were selected by the Veterans Committee.  Herzog spent 11 of his 18 years as a manager with the Redbirds, and led them to three National League pennants and the 1982 World Series title.  He had a 822-and-728 record while with St. Louis and had 1,281 wins overall.  He also managed the Royals, Angels and Rangers.
