The Cardinals snapped a 2-all tie with six runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on for an 8-6 win over the Brewers at
Miller
Park. Matt Holliday singled in the go-ahead score and Yadier Molina capped the frame with a grand slam for
St. Louis. Jake Westbrook pitched six innings of two-run ball in a no-decision. Mitchell Boggs gave up a run in an inning and a third of relief, but got the win. Zach Braddock took the loss for
Milwaukee. Corey Hart homered twice for the Crew.
The Cardinals will play the second of their three-game series in
Milwaukee tonight. Kyle Lohse opposes the Brewers' Chris Narveson. Lohse is 2-and-6 on the season, including 1-and-2 since returning from right forearm surgery last month.
St. Louis has won three of its last four games to stand at 72-and-63 on the year. The Cards are six games behind the first-place Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central and five back of the Philadelphia Phillies for the NL Wild Card lead. Kaspar Broadcastin brings you the pregame at 6:27 tonight.
The Rams made a move Monday to bolster their thin and inexperienced receiving corps. The Rams acquired vetern wideout Mark Clayton and an undisclosed draft pick from the Baltimore Ravens for a future undisclosed draft choice. Clayton helps fill the void left by the season-ending knee injury to number-one receiver Donnie Avery. Clayton was the 22nd-overall pick by the Ravens in the 2005 draft and has nine career 100-yard games to his credit. Meanwhile, the Rams signed linebackers Curtis Johnson and Mortty Ivey to the practice squad. Quarterback Sam Bradford was also named the starter over the weekend for Sunday's season-opener against the Cardinals.
