The Cardinals will look to push their winning streak to eight games tonight as they play the third of four against the Phillies at Busch Stadium.  Jaime Garcia gets the nod for the Redbirds in the 7:15 p.m. start.  He's 8-and-4 and his 2.27 ERA is third-best in the majors.  The Phils counter with 3-and-5 Joe Blanton.  The Cards have taken the first two games in the set, and were 7-1 winners behind Chris Carpenter last night.  The series will conclude with a 1:15 p.m. matinee tomorrow.  Adam Wainwright is scheduled to go for his 15th win. The pregame show starts at 6:32 tonight on AM 730 KWRE

Despite a seven-game winning streak, the Cardinals are still just a half-game ahead in the National League Central.  The Cincinnati Reds have won their last two and four-of-five since the All-Star Break.  The Cards have a 53-and-41 mark, while the Reds are 53-and-42.  The Cubs and Brewers are tied for third and are both 10-and-a-half games back.  The Cards will face the Cubs for three games this weekend starting Friday.

Forward David Perron will remain with the Blues for the next two years. The 22-year-old agreed to a two-year pact with the Note.  Perron was tied for fourth on the team last season with 47 points and had a career-best 20 goals.  He also set a personal best with three assists in one game on April 9th against the Ducks.  In three seasons in St. Louis, he has 48 goals and 76 assists for 124 points over 225 games.

Former Cardinals catcher Bob Uecker will be back behind the mic Friday for the Brewers when they take on the Washington Nationals. The 75-year-old has been out of commission since having successful heart surgery on April 30th. Uecker was inducted into the broadcaster’s'  wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 and has been calling Brewers games for 40 years. "Mr. Baseball" is also known for his acting, and played announcer Harry Doyle in the "Major League" movie series. He spent two years with the Cards, and was with the team for its World Series-winning run in 1964.
