As expected, Stan Kroenke was approved to be the owner of the Rams today in a vote by NFL owners in Atlanta. Kroenke already owns 40-percent of the team, but wants to obtain the other 60-percent owned by Chip Rosenbloom and sister Lucia Rodriguez.

Neil Walker's two-run single snapped a 2-all tie in the seventh inning and the Pirates held on for a 4-3 win over the Cardinals in Pittsburgh. Matt Holliday hit a two-run homer in the first and Jon Jay's infield single scored a run in the ninth for St. Louis.  Adam Wainwright allowed all four runs in seven innings to fall to 17-and-8 with the loss. Albert Pujols had three hits in defeat.

The Cardinals will try to take the rubber match of their three-game set in Pittsburgh tonight. Jake Westbrook, who is 7-and-8, will oppose the Pirates' Daniel McCutchen, who is 1-and-5.  St. Louis had its three-game winning streak snapped with last night's loss to the Bucs. The Cardinals remain two-and-a-half games behind the first place Reds, who lost at San Francisco. Hear the pregame at 5:22 this afternoon on AM 730 KWRE

Don't look for Colby Rasmus to be in the starting lineup for the Cardinals tonight. He continues to battle a strained right calf. He told trainers he felt better yesterday after a workout, but manager Tony La Russa said that's not good enough to get him back in the lineup. Rasmus has been limited to pinch-hit duty over the last week.

Alfonso Soriano and Tyler Colvin homered to power the Cubs to a 5-4 win over the Nationals in Washington. Soriano hit a three-run shot in the second and Colvin connected for a two-run blast in the fourth to stake Chicago to a 5-1 lead. Carlos Marmol gave up three in the ninth, but hung on for his 23rd save. Carlos Zambrano pitched one-run ball into the eighth for the victory.

Missouri wide receiver Jerrell Jackson could be back sooner than expected. Head coach Gary Pinkel said after Tuesday practice that Jackson could possibly return from a fractured wrist in time for the Tigers' season opener against Illinois a week from Saturday.  Jackson took part in limited drills yesterday.  He fractured a bone at the base of his left thumb nearly two weeks ago.
