Glen Perkins tossed seven innings of three-hit, one-run baseball to lead the the Twins to a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals, in the first installment of a three-game Interleague set at Busch Stadium.  Perkins walked none and struck out three to up his record to 3-and-4 with the win, while Joe Nathan nailed down his 18th save with a scoreless ninth for Minnesota. Rick Ankiel's RBI double in the seventh was the lone run St. Louis could muster.  Adam Wainwright surrendered two earned runs through seven frames to take the loss for the Redbirds, who have dropped three straight.

The second seeds on both the men's and women's sides are through to the fourth round at Wimbledon.  Both Roger Federer and Serena Williams were third-round winners Friday at the All England Club.  Federer ousted 27th-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1.  The five-time Wimbledon champ dropped a set for the first time at this year's tournament.  Federer is looking for a record 15th Grand Slam title.  He will next face 13th-seeded Robin Soderling.  The two met in the French Open final earlier this month, with Federer coming out on top.  Number-four seed Novak Djokavic also advanced, beating American Mardy Fish 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

On the women's side, Williams was a 6-3, 6-4 victor over Roberta Vinci of Italy.  It was the first-ever match between the two, which the American won in an hour and seven minutes.  She will face Daniela Hantuchova in the fourth round.  Fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva was also a thrid-round winner Friday.  She defeated fellow Russian Regina Kulikova 6-1, 6-2.  However, seventh-seeded Vera Zvonareva was forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury.
