A former sports agent to O.J. Simpson has a book coming out Monday titled "How I Helped O.J. Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse."
In it, author Mike Gilbert claims the former NFL great confessed to him that he had indeed murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
TMZ.com reports Gilbert also claims he helped O.J. keep money from Goldman's family. They won a $33.5 million-dollar wrongful death judgment against Simpson in 1997. The Goldmans' lawyer, David Cook, calls this, quote, "another case of folks like Mister Gilbert drinking the cocktail of celebrity and being intoxicated by Mister Simpson's celebrity status -- and in doing so committing a moral, ethical and legal wrong."
Cook told TMZ he thinks Gilbert's book may contain, quote, "strong strands of truth. We have heard of Simpson walking around with bags of money and then the money disappears. He needed his cronies to help him. Gilbert is just one of (his) little helpers."
The book's inside flap says "Gilbert is breaking his silence and telling the full story of the man he idolized, but now despises." He claims responsibility for O.J.'s hand not fitting into the infamous bloody glove during the 1994 murder trial.
Part of the proceeds from the book's sale will be donated to the March of Dimes and other selected charities.
