Local Westplex Band "Hillbilly Authority" Wins 2008 KFAV Colgate Country Showdown, Then Wins State!

Local Band
'Hillbilly Authority' Takes 1st Place In Missouri State Competition at Tan-Tara Resort, Lake Of The Ozarks, moving on to Regionals. They got there by winning KFAV's local Showdown.
Celebrity Judges Scored a total of 5 finalists in the finals of the 2008 KFAV Colgate Country Showdown at the St. Charles County Fair, Saturday, July 26th. Local band,
"Hillbilly Authority" had the highest score, and became the St. Louis region winner. The band is also a big part of Kaspar Broadcasting's Flood Relief '08 this Sunday, starting at 2pm at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Jason Martin and
John Hall, judged at Brewskeez in O'Fallon, Wednesday, July 16th.
Kenny Sutter and
Andrea Morton
won on June 25th.
Thursday evening, July 10th, 5 acts competed for two more finalist spots. The judges awarded those spots to country band
"Hillbilly Authority" and to singer
Liz Moriondo. This was a very close competition with only one vote separating another contestent from becoming a finalist. Unfortunately, Andrea Morton was unable to attend the finals, due to illness
. KFAV thanks intern Shannon Bishop for organizing the entire Showdown this year. Other thanks go to Nick Nixon who organized the judging throughout the preliminaries and helped put together the judging team for the final night, which featured 4 celebrity judges. Thanks to Ryan Kaspar, Danny James, Mike Thomas, Larry Waiter for helping Shannon, and Ginger Foster who brought the Showdown to the Westplex in 2007 and 2008.

Ricky Martin A Father Of Twin Boys

Not much 'livin' la vida loca' for singer Ricky Martin now that he's the proud daddy of twin boys! He's elated, and ready to live a new chapter in his life. It was 10 years ago when he led a 'latin' invasion onto the American pop charts. His song, "Livin' La Vida Loca" was number one all over the world.

14 Years And Now Talks About Exclusive Album Release For "Guns N' Roses"

 Axl Rose and band have reportedly taken 14 years to make a new album. Negotiations are underway for an exclusive retailer, either Wal-Mart or Best Buy to sell the long awaited "Chinese Democracy" release. To the right, lead singer Axl Rose wearing a t-shirt that basically says he wasn't in any way responsible for what happened at Riverport years ago. Good enough reason not to buy their new CD???

Sugarland Founder Files $1.5M Lawsuit Against Band

 Country group "Sugarland" has had great success, mainly due to lead singer Jennifer Nettles. You might remember the slightly overweight Kristen Hall who suddenly left the band a few years ago. Well, seems Hall was supposed to get her share of the profits......and by the way...what the heck is that guy good for anyway? Nettles is 100% of the talent.

 Out of the suds, and back into the bucket....Country singer Sarah Evans ties the knot again after a much talked about messy divorce to former husband, Craig Schelske. I guess this is a "Real Fine Place To Start" to quote one of her hits.

Still The One? Shania Twain And Husband Split Up

 Even a seemingly 'perfect' marriage of 14 years in recording studios and castles can't make it these days. He brought the perfect sound to her breakout recordings. She hasn't done much in the last 6 years, but now the 59 year-old Mutt Lange and 42 year-old Shania Twain....well....never the twain shall meet.
