The Warren County Sheriffs department announced yesterday the arrest of an O’Fallon man for manufacturing a controlled substance, methamphetamines. 49 year-old George McCleary, who lives on Elm Tree Road in O’Fallon, was arrested as a result of a surveillance operation and traffic stop in Warrenton at 2:30pm on Tuesday.   When they stopped his vehicle, Warren County Sheriffs Detectives Doerr and Welschmeyer spotted numerous items and chemicals in his vehicle that are used to make methamphetamine. Specifically, they found the ingredients used to make anhydrous ammonia, a vital component in the meth making recipe. In addition, McCleary also had on his person a shopping list of the other ingredients, chemicals, and equipment necessary to produce methamphetamine.

McCleary was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, and was being held on $25,000.00 bond. Sheriff Harrison urges persons who notice illegal or suspicious activity to contact the Warren County Sheriff's Department at 636-456-4332.
