Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee has released the results of her recent audit of Gasconade County.

The audit found a few issues that need to be addressed by Gasconade county officials.   One such area was in the County Treasurer’s office where the audit found receipts and deposits were not always reconciled and as a result the treasurer has not be able to identify differences between bank account balances and fund balances.

Montee also noted that the county, as a whole, has not documented a basis for transferring amounts from the Union Electric Fund to the General Revenue Fund.   Disbursements from the UE Fund are restricted to emergency preparedness and related items.

The audit also found inadequate procedures in the Prosecuting Attorney’s controls and procedures to ensure bad check restitution collected by the Circuit Clerk’s office is reported to the Prosecutor’s office.   It also found that accounting duties were not adequately segregated in the Sheriff’s Department.
