President Barrack Obama will speak about health insurance reform to an invitation-only audience. His appearance is scheduled for 4 p.m. at
St. Charles
High School. Officials think this is the first presidential visit for St. Charles High in the school’s 104-year history, and a few dozen lucky students have tickets to the invitation-only event. The President plans to speak about health care reform tomorrow, and about 300 people total are expected to attend.
.
High School Principal Mark Eggers said security teams began checking out St. Charles High on Thursday afternoon to see whether it was suitable for the visit. Then, parents and students learned Sunday night in voicemail from the district that Obama was coming. Students will be let out at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for security reasons. Principal Eggers says ten students from St. Charles High and ten from St. Charles West will get tickets to attend, and they will be chosen because they demonstrate leadership, classroom participation and diversity. Teachers and staff will be allowed to submit their own names in a drawing for another 10 tickets available.
So, you may encounter rush-hour delays when you head home from work tomorrow, because the most powerful man in the world could be anywhere as he heads from point-A to point-B and the Secret Service isn’t providing details about his motorcade route. Mr. Obama will head downtown from
St Charles
High School to attend a fundraiser for U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill at the Renaissance Grand Hotel. For security reasons, his route won't be released in advance, but drivers should expect road closures as he makes the trek through town. The trip is Obama's third venture into the metro area since becoming President of the
United States of America.
