The St. Charles City Council has approved modest pay raises for about 180 non-union city employees.

The council approved the raises, which will average around 2.15 percent, at their meeting earlier this week.  Officials say the exact percentage of the pay increase will depend upon where the employees’ positions fared in a consulting firm’s study of how city pay compares to that at other employers. A few will get no raise while the increase for some others could be a bit higher. The raises will be retroactive to January 1.

Most of the city’s employees are represented by unions and raises of 2.5 percent were already approved for those groups through negotiations, earlier in the year.
