Police Investigate Second St Charles County Jewelry Heist

Authorities hope this isn’t a case of things happening in threes, as they investigate yet another jewelry store burglaries in St Charles’ historic district. This makes two in just one month’s time.In this latest burglary, thieves forced open a window early Friday morning at the Lewis and Clark Jewelers at 724 South Main Street. Once inside, they smashed the glass tops of two display cases and took about 40 men’s rings valued at $100,000.

 

On July 19th, burglars broke a window at Master’s Pieces Fine Jewelry and Gifts at 816 South Main Street, and made off with $50,000 in jewelry from a display case. In both cases, police were notified by the alarm system and were there in minutes. St Charles police Lt Mike Akers told reporters that the suspects were in and out quickly and knew what they wanted.
