The O’Fallon Police Department will be hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back program Saturday.

The program, which is provided by the O’Fallon Police Department in cooperation with Crime Stoppers and Target, is aimed at increasing awareness of prescription and over the counter drug abuse issues facing our area’s youth and to help eliminate prescription drugs that are no longer being used from homes by providing a safe place for disposal of prescription drugs that are no longer needed.

Persons wishing to take advantage of the program should bring identification to verify that they are at least 18 years old and that they reside at the address listed on the medications. You can also bring in medication from anyone living in your household.   The medications should be in their original packaging from the pharmacy. Medications from a licensed pharmacist will be accepted, including controlled substances, liquids containing medications, prescription inhalers, and medicated ointments or patches. Only medications from individuals can be accepted for this program…medications from businesses can not be taken.

Illegal or illicit drugs should not be brought to to the Take Back Program site. Those drugs can be turned in anytime to the O’Fallon Police Department.

The Drug Take Back program will be held on the parking lot of the Police Department at 100 North Main Street from 10am -2pm.
