An O’Fallon police officer and two good Samaritans joined forces to rescue a pizza delivery man from a burning vehicle on Highway K. Police report that 23-year-old Josh Perkins of St. Peters was driving home to St. Peters from his job at Papa John’s Pizza. He was northbound on Highway K, when he lost control of the vehicle, which hit a curb and a light signal box and went airborne before hitting a tree near Highway K and Feise Road at just past 9pm Monday.

18-year-old Richard McCrary of O’Fallon saw the accident happen and ran to get a fire extinguisher. Then when police arrived, he and another man helped them pull Perkins from the vehicle moments before it became engulfed in flames. Perkins was taken to St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles with no major injuries. It’s not clear why Perkins lost control of the vehicle. But Perkins and his family are grateful there were good Samaritans around when he needed them.
