Instead of buying a “pig in a poke” this November, voters will, instead, have a golden opportunity to hear what the state’s Gubernatorial candidates have to say next week at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Both Democratic Attorney General Jay Nixon and Republican Congressman Kenny Hulshof confirm they will participate in a debate at 3:15 pm on September 11th. How many other debates will occur after that is, appropriately, still up for debate.

The Columbia debate is being sponsored by the Missouri Press Association in conjunction with the 100th anniversary celebration of the university's journalism school. Nixon says he will participate in three other debates - a radio debate in Kansas City; a TV debate broadcast in St. Louis and Kansas City; and a TV debate in Springfield. Hulshof also wants to hold an additional mid-Missouri debate and one in Cape Girardeau.
