All Pet Food Gone! Dog Gone It! What do you do when you have over 6,000 20 lb. bags of Purina Pet Food and want to give it all away? You throw a major party...and wow....did we have a party!!! Free Pet Food? You bet! Dardenne Animal Medical Center and Kaspar Broadcasting teamed up to unload an entire semi tractor trailer full of Purina Pro Plan 20 lb. bags of Dog Food, and 7 lb. bags of cat food to anyone who wanted to come by Saturday or Sunday, April 18th and 19th. We never made it to Sunday. We started at 10am Saturday but surprisingly ran out of food by 2pm!
Why were doing this? We live in uncertain times. During hard economic times, we want to make sure the pets in the Westplex are taken care of. So, we developed the
PET PROJECT STIMULUS PLAN to help the entire local economy. How does this work? Well, when you picked up your free bag of pet food, you also got a small bag of valuable coupons from our sponsors. There are some real values to help your household budget. Carriage Printing in O'Fallon has joined with us to print the coupons so that sponsors didn't have to pay for them. What a great country! All we ask is that you take the money you saved in receiving the FREE Pet Food,(Approx. $30. to $35.) and spend it with our sponsors using the money saving coupons...(saving even more!). Since every dollar spent locally trickles down 7 times into the local economy, we think that could be truly beneficial to all of us. Don't you think? Everyone wins! The Westplex Dogs and Cats, your family budget, and our local economy...which comes back again to help you and your family!
Dardenne Animal Medical Center also had on site services at a discount, and KFAV 99.9 FM was broadcasting live. KWRE, KFAV, and Westplex Today.com are all proud to work with Dr. Mark Lucas and the Dardenne Animal Medical Center. Special thanks go out to our sponsors below, to Starbucks and Bob Evans in Wentzville, and to listeners Evelyn, Anna, and Carol who volunteered all day Saturday to help us when were were overwhelmed with the huge turnout. KFAV Staffers, Mike Clynch, Debbie Haefner, and Peggy Gianino got a full day's work in and then some. Also, a big thank you to Christie Watson at 'Simply Beautiful Photograpy' who not only took some great pics, but also strapped on a traffic vest and helped control traffic. See the link at the bottom of this page and go to her web site to see lots of pics from this big, big, day in the Westplex!!! Here web site is www.simplybeautifulphotography.net
