Warren County Sheriff Kevin Harrison reports a recent car chase and ground search has resulted in the arrest of a man who jumped parole. The suspect was in prison on felony drug charges, and had been paroled, but then a warrant was issued due to the suspect violating the conditions of his parole. As a result, the suspect was the focus of recent officer safety bulletins as a result of his involvement in several high speed chases in surrounding counties as he avoided arrest.
In one instance in
Osage
County, the suspect shot at pursuing officers, and he was considered a high priority suspect to apprehend. For these reasons he was considered armed and dangerous, and was identified as 34-year-old Gregory Ogg of Chamois,
Missouri (seen in picture above).
At about 6:45pm on February 26th, Warren County Sheriffs Corporal Robby Ryan spotted a vehicle matching the description of what Ogg was believed to be driving. Ryan tried to stop Ogg, and he responded by heading south on Highway U at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended near the 23-thousand block of Highway U when the suspect ran the vehicle off the road and into a tree. Ogg climbed out the wreckage and fled into the woods on foot. Corporal Ryan immediately called for K-9 and backup assistance. Sheriffs Deputies, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Warren County Sheriff Sergeant Ed McCormick arrived with a K-9 officer named Bronto and began to search.
Bronto followed the scent trail approximately three quarters of a mile through fields and through woods, and located Ogg, trying to hide behind some fallen trees. He was charged with violating his parole and was taken into custody without incident. He was not armed at the time of his arrest, but Sheriff Harrison points out that Ogg was a wanted felon who posed a significant threat to both citizens and law enforcement personnel. After being taken into custody, he was returned
tothe
State Penitentiary on Monday morning.
