On Thursday, an
Arnold man pled guilty to a federal charge that he bought more than 5000 cold pills and resold them to meth makers knowing they would be used to make methamphetamines to pay for his court ordered child support. 36 year old Leonard Wilson agreed that his purchases between January 2007 and November 2009 totaled more than 300 grams but under one kilogram.
Wilson could face roughly nine to 11 years in federal prison when sentenced later this year. If he had admitted to buying more than on kilo of pseudoephedrine, he could have faced even more time.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Winfield said that
Wilson actually bought more than 6,700 pseudoephedrine pills on at least 453 separate trips to local pharmacies through 2010.
Wilson was caught when Jefferson County Municipal Enforcement Group detectives came across his name in a search of pharmacy records for frequent pill-buyers, they went to his house in the 300 block of
Oak Ridge Parkway where
Wilson admitted re-selling the pseudoephedrine for $50- to $60 per box and using the money to pay child support and other expenses.
