A Wintry Mixture Is Headed For Missouri And Illinois

The National Weather Service predicts heavy snowfall from southwest to northeast Missouri and Illinois Thursday night and early Friday morning. Currently, the data indicates that precipitation will track from southwest to northeast across the Show-Me state into the L and of Lincoln in a one-two punch of winter precipitation Thursday night and Friday. Who will see the most snow? The Weather Service predicts locations along and north of Interstates 70 and 44 are most likely to see accumulations. Further south, a mix of rain and snow is expected with little if any snow accumulations.


The second wave is expected to impact the Westplex Friday afternoon and evening. Cold air should be increasing across the region by then, changing the rain and snow into all snow, and current indications are that a storm total snowfall of two to five inches is likely. However, there is some uncertainty with regards to the exact track the storm will take.
