Local Band 'Hillbilly Authority' Takes 1st Place In Missouri State Competition at Tan-Tara Resort, Lake Of The Ozarks, moving on to Regionals.  They got there by winning KFAV's local Showdown.   Celebrity Judges Scored a total of 5 finalists in the finals of the 2008 KFAV Colgate Country Showdown at the St. Charles County Fair, Saturday, July 26th.  Local band, "Hillbilly Authority" had the highest score, and became the St. Louis region winner.  The band is also a big part of Kaspar Broadcasting's Flood Relief '08 this Sunday, starting at 2pm at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Jason Martin and John Hall, judged at Brewskeez in O'Fallon, Wednesday, July 16th.  Kenny Sutter and Andrea Morton  won on June 25th.   Thursday evening, July 10th, 5 acts competed for two more finalist spots.  The judges awarded those spots to country band "Hillbilly Authority" and to singer  Liz Moriondo.  This was a very close competition with only one vote separating another contestent from becoming a finalist.  Unfortunately, Andrea Morton was unable to attend the finals, due to illness .  KFAV thanks intern Shannon Bishop for organizing the entire Showdown this year.  Other thanks go to Nick Nixon who organized the judging throughout the preliminaries and helped put together the judging team for the final night, which featured 4 celebrity judges.  Thanks to Ryan Kaspar, Danny James, Mike Thomas, Larry Waiter for helping Shannon, and Ginger Foster who brought the Showdown to the Westplex in 2007 and 2008.
