The Green Bay Packers will retire Brett Favre's #4 jersey in the team's 2008 season opener against Minnesota on Monday, September 8th.

Favre's number-four will be the sixth jersey retired by the storied franchise, joining wide receiver Don Hutson, fullback Tony Canadeo, quarterback Bart Starr, linebacker Ray Nitschke and defensive end Reggie White.

Favre announced his retirement from the NFL last month after a 17-year career.  He left the game as the NFL's all-time leader in several categories including touchdown passes, passing yards and consecutive starts by a quarterback.  The 38-year-old amassed more than 61,000 passing yards, 442 touchdowns, 288 interceptions, and 160 wins as a starting quarterback.  Most importantly, Favre led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory and two NFC Championships.
