Former Missouri wide receiver Will Franklin will be honored by Vashon High School this evening as his football jersey is retired.

Franklin was drafted last month by the Kansas City Chiefs after an outstanding career at Mizzou.  While a senior at Vashon, Franklin earned all-state, all-metro and all-league honors.  Westplex high school football fans got a close look at Franklin, in the 2003 Class 4 MSHSAA state quarterfinal vs. Wentzville Holt.  However, a howling rainstorm transformed the field at Gateway Academy into a quagmire, and Franklin didn't get a chance to perform his magic that night.

The number-retirement ceremony for Franklin at Vashon begins at 5:00 .
