You may be lucky to have heard Bill Whyte spinning platters on the air in Warrenton on AM 730 KWRE. Like many broadcasters, his career has had more twists and turns than the "Tilt A Whirl" ride at the County Fair, but all those twists and turns have led him to working on WSM radio in Nashville, the home of the Grand Ole Opry.

Bill will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the On-Air category this February. He describes the honor as "shocking" telling Kaspar Broadcasting News, "I can remember getting out and finishing a gig somewhere and it would be one or two o'clock in the morning and the first thing I would do was turn on WSM radio, the Grand Ole Opry station, because I was a fan of Ralph Emory and he used to do the all night show back then. And to get a call that theyre going to put me in the Country Music Broadcast Hall of Fame, and realize that my plaque is alongside his is just humbling beyond belief."

He started his career as a teenager on KCPR, aka “Kow Pasture Country Radio", career that has included successes at WUBE, WMIL, WSM-FM and WFMS. He is a singer songwriter who has won multiple national Air Personality awards including the CMA Award for Best Large Market Personality. He's been nominated for a CMA Award twice and won an AIR Award for best new Morning Show in Nashville. Bill is one of six inductees. The others are Beverlee Brannigan, Moby, Ron Rogers, Rusty Walker and Eddie Stubbs. The class of 2012 will be officially inducted at a dinner ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, inside the Nashville Convention Center.

The Country Radio Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of those individuals
who have  made significant contributions to the radio industry over a 20-year period, 15 of which must be in the Country format.Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony unofficially kicks off Country Radio Seminar each year. Lucchese Boots is a proud sponsor of the 2012 Country Radio Hall of Fame and will be providing each inductee this year with a custom made pair of their boots
