Tampa was the scene of several upsets in the first two rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.  However, Tennessee made sure that wouldn't happen in the women's national championship game.

The Lady Volunteers subdued Stanford 64-48 Tuesday night, to win their second straight national championship.  Tennessee was down early 5-2, but they quickly reversed that trend to post a 15-7 lead and never looked back.

AP Women's Player of the Year Candice Parker ended her wonderful tenure at Tennessee by scoring 17 points and collecting 9 rebounds in the title game.  She will most likely be the top overall pick in the WNBA draft tonight, and Parker will also be a vital cog for Team USA during the upcoming Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt added to her legendary resume by winning her 8th national championship, and 987th career game.

Candice Wiggins of Stanford was held to 14 points by Tennessee, after putting up a couple of games of 40 points or more in the national tournament.  Stanford also wilted under the relentless Tennessee defense, after committing 25 turnovers.
