The Hornets, Magic and Spurs all prevailed on their home floor again in last night's NBA playoffs.
In San Antonio, Tony Parker poured in 32 points as the defending champion Spurs pulled out a 102-96 win over the Suns in Game Two of their first-round matchup. Tim Duncan added 18 points and 17 rebounds for the Spurs, who trailed by as many as 14 in the first half. However, when push comes to shove, the Spurs' defense has been far superior to the Suns in critical stretches of their first two playoff games. Amare Stoudemire had 33 points to lead Phoenix, which trails 2-0 and will host Game Three Friday.
Meanwhile, if you're not familiar with Chris Paul, you need to watch this superstar-in-the-making. Paul produced stats that only Magic Johnson can appreciate Tuesday night: 32 points and 17 assists as the Hornets knocked off the Mavericks 127-103 in Game Two of their first-round series in New Orleans. The Hornets took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven matchup. Dallas hosts Game Three on Friday.
In Orlando, Dwight Howard continues to be a pillar of strength. He had 29 points and 20 rebounds as the Magic held off the Raptors 104-103 to take a two-games-to-none lead in their best-of-seven set. Chris Bosh missed a potential game-winning jumper for Toronto. The Raptors will host Game Three on Thursday.
Tonight, the 76ers and Pistons play Game Two of their first-round series in suburban Detroit. Philadelphia leads that best-of-seven set after a surprising 90-86 win in Game One. The top-seeded Celtics look to take a 2-0 series lead on the Hawks in Boston, and the Nuggets and Lakers meet in Game Two of their series in Los Angeles with the Lakers leading that matchup 1-0.
