The Pistons, Celtics and Lakers were all NBA playoff winners last night, in their Game 2 showdowns in first-round play.
Richard Hamilton led a balanced attack with 20 points as the Pistons evened their first-round series with the Sixers at a game apiece with a 105-88 win in suburban Detroit. Pistons guard Chauncey Billups says they came out determined to show that their 90-86 Game 1 loss was a fluke.
In Boston, Kevin Garnett had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Celtics to a 96-77 win over the Hawks in Game Two of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal. Ray Allen added 15 points, including three three-pointers, as Boston easily grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven matchup. Atlanta will host Game Three on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Lakers are off to a high scoring 2-0 start in their first-round playoff series with the Nuggets after a 122-107 win in Game Two in Los Angeles. Kobe Bryant had 49 points, including 20 points in the first quarter and 19 in the fourth. Denver will host Game Three of the series on Saturday.
Tonight, the Orlando Magic take a 2-0 series lead to Toronto to take on the Raptors, the Cleveland Cavaliers take a 2-0 advantage to Washington to play the Wizards, and the Jazz host the Houston Rockets in Utah with a 2-0 lead in that best-of-seven series.
