It's funny, a trainer once told me that if weight actually came off your body with just pure hard work, there would be a lot of people who weighed nothing. However, most folks who work out, just aren't finding the results they so desperately desire.  One local trainer believes he has found the key, and fortunately for us, he is quick to share.

Marty Gremminger fell in love with fitness a long time ago. He became an AFAA certified fitness instructor in 1989, but was always a competitive athlete in which his own exercise programs enhanced his performance and recovery in the sports he competed at. He honed his skills and knowledge growing up in the fitness industry working for gyms like Heathquarters and Club Fitness and now selling and training people on exercise equipment sold in his own store Fitness Outlet on Mid Rivers Mall Dr in Cottleville. Lately, Marty has really found great results, and it all comes down to a principle called circuit training.

This isn't a new concept to some people. In fact, this method of training has been employed by boxers, wrestlers have been doing this style of training for as long as their sports have existed. These athletes came to understand that the fastest way to tire the body is to quickly switch from on activity to another. For example, wrestlers might spend 3 minutes doing takedowns, then immediately do 3 three minutes of stand up drills, then immediately do 3 minutes of sprints. Then, repeat this circuit a great number of times.  All this in preparation for a 6 minute wrestling match.

"The problem with the old school training method is the breaks that people take while they train." Marty goes on to say,"People do some cardio, and then go train weights, and then they are done. The key to dropping weight is to break up the exercise routine.  After a set of bicep curls, do 20 sit ups, then do 5 minutes of running. This causes a kind of muscle confusion, and really makes the most of your workout. Obviously, regular folks don't need to kill themselves as a wrestler or a boxer might, but the principle of circuit training is easily employed."
