Missouri heroes living in Veterans' Homes will now have better protection should severe weather knock out power, after Governor Blunt stopped in St. Louis to sign a bill which would provide nearly $4 million for electrical generators at Missouri Veterans' Homes. The legislation will help prevent what happened in July 2006 when St. Louis Veterans' Home lost power in most of its facility for five days. The heat index reached 115 degrees that summer.
